Welcome to Fabric Creations. Sally and Zita are the owners.
Sally Bauknecht has been teaching quilting for over 20 years. It all started when her husband was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Sally took a Hawaiian Quilting class on the base. Before the class was finished, the instructor’s husband was transferred and Sally was asked to finish teaching the class. She stayed for the next three years teaching quilting.
After Sally’s husband retired, they moved back to Wisconsin and Sally took a job at Quilts’n Silks. While there, she taught quilting classes and offered help in matching material to projects customers were making. Sally has won numerous Blue Ribbons for her quilting at shows around Wisconsin. When Quilts’nSilks closed, Sally went to work at My Sister’s Quilt Shoppe for a year and a half. In June of 2011, Sally decided to open a quilt shop with her friend Zita. Fabric Creations was born!
Zita has been sewing most of her life! Early on I spent many enjoyable hours doing hand embroidery on pillow cases and towels. (I still have some of those masterpieces). Then I became the resident expert on yo-yos! (I was given this project to keep me out of mischief). After high school I attended Stout and graduated in Home Economics. I taught in the Green Bay school system 20+ years and upon retiring worked in a Manitowoc quilt shop teaching classes and helping customers with fabric selection. For the past 6 years I owned The Fabric Boutique inside Julie’s Sewing Centers in Green Bay and Appleton. Then an opportunity came along to again work with my long-time friend Sally and open a shop closer to home – I could not resist – and so we became “Fabric Creations”.
